1993 haben Frank Barkow und Regine Leibinger ihr amerikanisch-deutsches Architektur- büro in Berlin gegründet. Das Leistungsspektrum von Barkow Leibinger Architekten umfasst öffentliche Bauten, Büro- und Verwaltungsgebäude, Industriebau – vom Masterplan bis zur Produktionshalle –, außerdem Innenausbauten für Wohnen und Gewerbe sowie Bauen im Bestand.
Zu den wichtigsten bisherigen
Projekten zählen die Biosphäre in Potsdam (u.a. ausge- zeichnet mit dem BDA-Preis Brandenburg 2003), ein Kunden- und Ausbildungszentrum in Farmington, Connecticut / USA, das Gründerzentrum in Grüsch / Schweiz (u.a. Business Week Architectural Record Award 2003), die Laserfabrik und das Vertriebszentrum für Trumpf in Ditzingen (u.a. Hugo-Häring-Preis 2003, Anerkennung Deutscher Architektur- preis 2005 und Honor Award American Institute of Architects 2006) sowie der gesamte Masterplan für Trumpf Sachsen in Neukirch, wo Anfang 2006 ein Schulungszentrum mit Betriebsrestaurant eingeweiht wurde. Die aktuellsten Projekte sind ein Betriebsrestau- rant, ein Dienstleistungszentrum und die neue Hauptpforte für den Stammsitz von Trumpf in Ditzingen sowie ein Büro-Hochhaus in der ‚Digital Media City’ in Seoul / Korea.
Frank Barkow und
Regine Leibinger unterrichten kontinuierlich als Gastprofessoren an renommierten Hochschulen im In- und Ausland, darunter Harvard Graduate School of Design / Cambridge, Cornell University / Ithaca, Architectural Association / London, Hfbk Hamburg und Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste Stuttgart. Seit September 2006 ist Regine Leibinger Professorin für Baukonstruktion und Entwerfen an der Technischen Universität Berlin. Entsprechend ist die Arbeitsweise der Architekten geprägt durch ein beständiges Zusammenwirken von Berufspraxis, Forschung und Lehre.

In 1993 Frank Barkow and Regine Leibinger founded their German-American office in Berlin. The scope of Barkow Leibinger’s work spans from cultural to industrial projects. Their focus on industrial architecture includes masterplanning, and building representational and functional buildings for production, logistical and office spaces.
Their
projects in Germany and abroad have been published in numerous publications and honored with international awards – the Biosphere in Potsdam (ar+d award 2001), the Customer and Training Center in Farmington Connecticut, the Start-Up offices in Grüsch / Switzerland (Business Week Architectural Record Award 2003), the Laser Machine Tool Factory and the Customer and Administration Building for Trumpf near Stuttgart (Honor Award American Institute of Architects AIA 2006) among others.
Recent projects include a Campus Restaurant, Gatehouse and Service Center for Trumpf headquarters in Ditzingen, as well as an 11-story mid rise office building in the ‚Digital Media City’ / Seoul, Korea.
Frank Barkow and
Regine Leibinger’s approach to architectures formed by the continuous interaction of practice, research, and teaching. As Guest Professors, Visiting Professors or Unit Masters, they have taught at the Harvard Graduate School of Design / Cambridge, Cornell University / Ithaca, Architectural Association / London, Hfbk Hamburg, Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste Stuttgart. Since September 2006 Regine Leibinger is Professor for Building Construction and Design at The TU Berlin.
